Based on 408 reviewsYamagata Japanese Steak House in Lubbock, TX, is widely appreciated for its delicious and authentic Japanese cuisine, particularly its hibachi and shabu shabu offerings. Reviewers frequently highlight the quality and generous portions of the food, noting good value despite slightly higher prices. The restaurant's clean atmosphere and attentive service, including accommodating staff who engage well with families, are common positives. Some mention a less elaborate interior compared to other hibachi venues but find it comfortable and welcoming. Wait times and initial seating procedures have been noted as areas with occasional delays, though these do not detract significantly from the overall dining experience. Flexibility for dietary needs, such as allowing personal sauces for gluten sensitivities, is also appreciated by patrons.
First time coming here. Came with my family and significant other. When we first walked in. There wasn’t a hostess to greet us. Nothing major. Did take her a bit to come greet us and take our name down (party of 5). We sit down at wait for our turn to be seat. She walked back over to us to inform us that there was another part ahead of us. Which I already knew. Once we were seated. A waitress came to get all of our drink orders. Then placed our order once she came back. Waited a bit for the cook to come. He was behind entertaining!! Wish I got his name. The food was amazing! They do “drench” the food with teriyaki sauce but I for one love that! Don’t like when I can’t taste all the flavors. Towards the end when we got the check. It felt like we were being rushed to leave. Could have been just us though. It was close to their closing time. Overall, it was pretty good. Oh! The decor was beautiful! Do wish more parts of their walls were completely bare but I digress. It was a pretty awesome place.
I really don’t like lamb at all but I eat here all the time, so I thought I would try out their recipe. It came out perfect!! I had my food in less than an hour & they were slammed with dine in customers. It’s one of the best restaurants in town!
It was amazing!!!! My family and I went to try the shabu shabu and I can not stress enough HOW AMAZING IT WAS!!! At first glance the prices seem a bit steep but for the amount of food you get it is easily worth it just as much as any other sit down restaurant. Christian martinez was a great help. He even played with my nephew a little bit to get him to calm down after a crying fit. He is a pretty awesome dude. If you have a chance go and try them. I will say they are in my top 5 places to eat and I'll definitely be going back when I can. I would add more pictures but I have family in them shoveling food in thier faces.
Great hibachi place! The food was excellent! Gave it 4 stars on atmosphere because it’s mostly just a big open room with tables and hibachi stations. Not as themed as most other hibachi restaurants. Will definitely go back! PS. They also allow you to bring your own sauces if you are celiac or have gluten sensitivities.
very clean atmosphere, the waitress was amazing. The chef was by far one the best ones I've had. The food tasted amazing, per usual.
